How to make a good video (workshop)

On Monday (5.11.) we had a lecture with the director and script writer Tomáš Houška. There was a brief explanation about the scenario different types of shots and recording. Later students made a simple exercise in groups to involve and practice new knowledge. We hope this workshop will improve their own video.

Teachers meeting in Italy

There was a teachers meeting in Foligno from 14th to 19th September. We discussed many different steps of the project. Most of it was about next student mobility which will take place in The Czech Republic at our school in December. We also spent very pleasant time with Italian teachers and students in school as well as in Foligno and the nearest beautiful surroundings.

The criteria for the video contest are :

•      Background sound
•      Quality of picture
•      Clear message/Understandability
•      Originality
•      Technical visual effects

Each state will nominate 2 videos!

Before the whole project contest there will be our school contest!

The minimum length of the video is 3 minutes. Maximum is 6 minutes!

Wolgast school in Černošice

On Tuesday at 8:00 we had something like a meeting with our teacher. We were doing last preparations before the german students arrived. At 8:30 mr. Vávra remembered that he doesn´t have any flowers for them, so he had to go to Tesco for them. He bought two orange roses. On the way back to school mr. Vávra found out that his car is out of fuel, but fortunately they made it back to school. At 9:00 the germans arrived, we went upstairs to the classroom no.10 and there we showed them our presentations about our school and some other stuff. After that we had some snacks. Then we showed them the beach in Mokropsy, I also brought a guitar there. When we got back to school, we went down to the playfield and played football and voleyball. Then we went to the classroom no.9 and there were a lot of pizzas waiting for us. Then they took a trip to Karlštejn.

6th Day (Students' meeting Atheny)

Our trip to Greece ended the same way as it started : in McDonald's on the airport. It was about half past three when we arived, so we had a 'light' lunch there. The flight To Zurich was OK but I don't remember very much because I was asleep. But it was a little bit scary when we were leaving from Zurich. It was raining, we were almost an hour late and when they told me our pilot was a woman I almost freak out! We arrived at Prague I was suprised we were only 10 minutes late!

5th Day (Students' meeting Atheny)

On Friday we traveled by underground and then we visited Acropolis together with Greek students . We had also chance to discover The Evsones (presidental gard) military service. There was a special lecture  prepared just for us! Later we had lunch and some ice cream. After lunch we went to the new Akropolis Museum. It was interesting because in the museum there was a glass floor so we could see some exibits downstairs, under the floor . It was interesting and very huge museum. But the best part of day came in the evening because we went to party with Greeks. It was fun but later it was sad because we had to say goodbye to Greeks...

4th Day (Students' meeting Atheny)

On Thursday morning we were in Greek school, we saw many videos at Videomuseum festival . It was huge music school and some videos were great. About two hours later we went to the typical greek taverna . It was great in taverna, we had delicious food like Feta cheese and Tzatziki. Later we saw some tradicional greek dance. But it was great fun even after the dancing because Greeks wanted to know some Czech words. I think they remember some words even now...
After our lunch in taverna we went to see hill called Likavitos. It was nice we walked slony the nice path in nature. When we reached the top of the hill we saw little church and some restaurant. But the best was the panoramic view around Athens!
After our trip to Likavitos, we went back to the hotel. It was really nice day!

3rd Day (Students' meeting Atheny)

 

Today we went to visit school in Glyka Nera. Sadly , we had to get up very early, but it didn´t matter because with greek students we were full of energy.

At first we walked through the school , which was only for 100 students , very small but  with big gym and playground. However , they had better chemistry class than us , very big and good gym and a nicer playground, too. After the tour through school , the greeks shown us some presentation about their country and neighbourhood  of the school.

Then, about 12 p.m. we went to a Modern Art Museum near Glyka Nera . It was very interesting but a little bit long. After this we went back to the school and we had to wait for a professional movie maker from Greece. During the waiting time we played volleyball , and Greeks started to party .  Suddenly , when there was some song playing loud, a greek student called Clyde started to do very good freestyle rap and breakdance to it , that was very amazing.

Than the film maker came and gave us some instructions about frames,scenes .. just film making and he put us into four groups . Then we had to take four pictures of some thing and they had to follow some rules. After this we were very tired and went to hotel.

It was a very interesting they and we were very surprised with the greek´s energy and stuff.

2nd Day (Students' meeting Atheny)

At 8 pm we got on a bus at our hotel and went to meet our Greek friends at their school, they took their own bus and we went to see some ancient Greek theater. Then Greek students took us to the city for a lunch, and while we was waiting for the bus to come, we were playing voleyball at some park in there. When the bus arrived, we went to visit the Temple of a god Poseidon. Luckily, we couldn’t get closer, because of national holiday, which made me bit sad. And at the last, they took us to the beach. On the way there, we were in the bus with greek students, which was really, really fun.

The sea was quite cold. Very cold. But we got over it and had really great time; we were playing voleyball, some of us were thrown into the sea or some of us were just relaxing and enjoying the Greek sun.

In the evening, after the dinner, some of us, who weren’t so tired, went to Acropolis. It was really nice to see it in the night.

We’ve really enjoyed this day, greeks are very nice to us and we’re not shy to talk with each other anymore, so it started to be very exciting

1st day

Shortly after we arrived to the airport in Prague, we began our journey to Greece. The first flight to Zurich in Switzerland wasn´t long. But the wait at the airport in Zurich for our flight to Athens was boring. When the airplane was finally ready for departure, we continued the journey to Athens. When we arrived, we recieved a warm welcome from the greek students. Though, we had to wait at the airport in Athens for students of the schools in Italy and France quite a long time, it was a good opportunity to get in touch with the greek students. After the wait we left the airport in our specially reserved bus. Then we arrived at our nice hotel and had a very good dinner.

We are heading for Athens…

We are very excited to go for students meeting in Athens in few days. It will be great opportunity for us to see those we have been known just from the internet up to now. We will see different school, city and country. We will talk in English work on projects’ topics and we hope we will have a lot of fun there.

As time goes our students who participate on the YVM project have formed four teams. Not all of them are experienced enough. But all of them are full of enthusiasm. Mr Vavra prepared short workshop about video editing. And also new camera and microphones were bought for project use. This week you could see all teams swarming around the school in order to shoot different scenes for their debut with common topic: Our school. After this first fruit they will select their own topic for other Youth Video Museum’s films.

Teachers´ meeting in Wolgast

At the end of January (21.-26.1) there was a teachers´ meeting in Wolgast in Germany. On Monday morning there was an excellent invitation in the school. Students prepared nice short presentations about each partners country. And later we had an opportunity to see daily life of Wolgast school. We discussed many different topics during the whole meeting.

The most important are:

1) Mobilities – There will be students meeting in Greece this April where every country delegate few students to visit and work together. (from Czech 10 students). Next year this event going to happen in Czech in Cernosice!! Apart this students from Wolgast will also come for one day visit in this May!

2) The interactions between our students and teachers – We want to support an independent communication between our students. There will be possibility for next videoconferences and also written communication via twinspace.

3) The blog and logo and T-shirt for our project - We were looking for new design for blog in terms of colors to make it more readable. We voted for central logo of the project. The winner is Greek sketch!! And we want to prepare special T-shirt for our students with this logo.

4) The video productions rules and criteria – After the discussion we decided for no limits for the topics. In other words students can choose whatever subject of their culture, nature, society they want to put in The Youth Video Museum. The time limit is 3 to 5 minutes. School can prepare many different videos and we will share them during the time. But for the final contest there will be nominated just 2 by each Country. (It means we will make our school contest before). Criteria for contest will be here soon.
