Teachers´ meeting in Wolgast

At the end of January (21.-26.1) there was a teachers´ meeting in Wolgast in Germany. On Monday morning there was an excellent invitation in the school. Students prepared nice short presentations about each partners country. And later we had an opportunity to see daily life of Wolgast school. We discussed many different topics during the whole meeting.

The most important are:

1) Mobilities – There will be students meeting in Greece this April where every country delegate few students to visit and work together. (from Czech 10 students). Next year this event going to happen in Czech in Cernosice!! Apart this students from Wolgast will also come for one day visit in this May!

2) The interactions between our students and teachers – We want to support an independent communication between our students. There will be possibility for next videoconferences and also written communication via twinspace.

3) The blog and logo and T-shirt for our project - We were looking for new design for blog in terms of colors to make it more readable. We voted for central logo of the project. The winner is Greek sketch!! And we want to prepare special T-shirt for our students with this logo.

4) The video productions rules and criteria – After the discussion we decided for no limits for the topics. In other words students can choose whatever subject of their culture, nature, society they want to put in The Youth Video Museum. The time limit is 3 to 5 minutes. School can prepare many different videos and we will share them during the time. But for the final contest there will be nominated just 2 by each Country. (It means we will make our school contest before). Criteria for contest will be here soon.

Next one …France!

Last Tuesday, we were talking with the students from France. The videoconference was good, but there were some bugs. Sometimes Czech and French students had small problem with English, but it is normal. Others were nervous because we had to speak only English. But I think that we found out very interesting things about French students and I hope that they did the same. During the interview we had an occasional help from Mr. Vavra (to whom we thank). We look forward to see the video from the French students soon.

Video conversation with Italy

Our second video conversation was with a school from Italy. Some of us were excited, but some were kinda nervous. When the conversation finally started, the Italian teacher introduced herself and the group of chosen students. It was a bit pity that they didn’t introduce themselves without any help from their teacher. It was also really difficult to even talk because of the accent and some technical imperfections, but for the first conversation it wasn’t bad. But every difficulty, when we found a common theme („surprisingly“ PC gaming) was irrelevant later on. The conversation went on and on until the end of the lesson stopped us. Then we just said goodbye and moved to another classroom for the next lesson.

The videoconference with Greece

Our first video conference was last Friday, we were talking with students from Greece. I think everybody were excited about it. It was good, but there were some technical problems on their side, so we didn´t understand everything they said. I hope that the next video conference will be without any problems, because i think everyone, who joined to this project want to talk a maybe get know some new friends from other country. I dont know what to say else. I think all of us enjoyed our video speech. And i hope everybody are looking forward to meeting these people personally. I think this project was a great idea, because the other students can get know something about our culture, we can get know something about their and of course everybody will be talking only in English so we can learn some new words from them. I´m really glad that our school is in this project.

The explanation of the name of the project:

Museum – The place where people collect valuable, interesting and rare items.

Video – Our museum however will be very special! It is going to be a video museum.

The Youth – Means that this time there are no great scientists working for this Museum! This time it is us, the young students from 5 different schools across the Europe. And we will fill up this museum from the youth point of view!

The main steps of the project in our school...

  1. Getting known each others – videoconferences with our partners from Italy, Greece, France, Germany.
  1. Creating the logo of the project (contest).
  1. Forming teams which will be able to work independently on the production of the short videos.
  1. Creating the videos, sharing it with partners (contest between partners)
  1. Organized visits (students, teachers) during the whole project time (as we are Commenius project!).

Introduction of the project…

On Monday morning we introduced basic facts about The Youth Video Museum project to our pupils. To grab the best attention we used the balloons inflated by helium with e-twinning logo and some of us put on orange T-shirts with the same logo. (a gift from our national agency) We pinned arrows around the school which have been leading students to the central notice board with all informations. Than later we explained details during lessons. We hope this sort of advertisement was strong enough to say some interesting extra activities are going to happen pretty soon…

At the beginning

The Idea of The Youth Video Museum project came from the school in Adana, Turkey. They also organized preparatory visit for other teachers who were interested in January 2011. The project was discussed in many aspects and the application form came to final version. Then we have been waiting for national agency approval. Fortunately The Czech Republic member was approved! So here we are starting the project in our school in Černošice!

Invitation for preparatory visit in Adana school

Our partners finally are:
